Alexis Sanchez is impressing Manchester United staff by having extra training sessions to improve his conditioning, according to reports.
The Chilean has made three appearances for Jose Mourinho‘s side since completing his move from Arsenal in the January transfer window. Sanchez scored his first goal for United in the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, but the 29-year-old struggled to make an impact in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham last Wednesday. According to The Sun, Sanchez feels he still not satisfied with his level of fitness and has taken it upon himself to take part in extra drills after the main session with his United teammates has finished.
The report claims that Sanchez is regularly working in the gym to improve his core fitness. ‘He has been doing an extra half an hour after the main session has finished by himself,’ a source at United told The Sun. ‘Nobody had asked him to do it but he feels there is an extra sharpness to be had. ‘He has got his head down and you can see the steam coming off his body after working outside, it’s so impressive.’
Meanwhile, United midfielder Nemanja Matic admitted after the win over Huddersfield Town that he is already impressed by Sanchez’s performances since his arrival at Old Trafford. ‘Alexis Sanchez played really well and he will be a very important player for us with his quality,’ said Matic. ‘He is very good on the ball and does a great job defensively.’
