Abacha Loots- Switzerland Signs MoU with Nigeria to Repatriate $321M

The efforts of the Buhari-led Federal Government has continued to yield positive results both home and abroad, not only in combatting crimes headlong, also it has gained much momentum in geting international collaborations and supports. This collaboration has also started to yield good results.

One of such is the agreement by the government of the United Kingdom to repatriate E900M to Bayelsa State being part of the loots of the former governor DSP Alamesigha.

Another one that is in the pipeline now is part of the Abacha loots stashed away in the far away Switzerland.

Nigeria and Switzerland have finally sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the return of $321 million traced to former Nigerian military ruler, Sani Abacha.

The deal was signed on behalf of Nigeria by Abubakar Malami, the attorney-general of the federation, in Washington DC, US, on Monday afternoon at the headquarters of the World Bank Group.

When returned, the money is expected to be expended on social protection programme in Nigeria.
